Oddbird Concerto was written for me by Mathieu in 2011, and I recorded it that year with g27 on my Canadian Concerto album, and premiered it in 2013 with g27 led by Eric Paetkau; 21/11/2020 will be the third live performance of this incredible concerto.

He must get past his disapproving teacher, disappointed parents, fly back in time and generally use all his talent to prove he is worthy of a bassoon. Story written by Fraser Jackson, music arranged by Fraser Jackson, paintings by Nadina Mackie Jackson. Accompanied by bassoon quartet with guest star narrator to be announced.

BASSOON OUT LOUD #7 – January 22, 2017 at 7 pm at Heliconian Hall, Telemann’s Twelve Fantasias originally for solo flute. Join me for a mid-winter concert by candlelight, possibly your lowest carbon-footprint outing of the year. These Fantasias are really eloquent and sparkling, covering everything from fugues, to jigs to a French overture, all within single voice of the bassoon assisted by the resonance of the hall.
